SVG files

Use these files to laser cut directly or edit further in your own software. These are intended for people who wish to make their own models but don't wish to use the code to create their own files. Read on for an overview of laser settings and materials needed.

Scaling Note SVG pixels to mm scaling seems to vary in different systems. These svg files are sized accurately to mm in the software I am using to laser cut (beambox studio) but come up a different size in inkscape. You may need to rescale to the size you want in your own software, hopefully this sort of rescaling is just a single step.

Laser cutting settings The SVG files have a cut layer and a score layer. I have made the models from 250gsm white card gloss or silk finish gives nice models with surfaces less prone to getting dirty. You can experiment with other weights of paper but these svg files are cut to work well with the paper I used, for example the amount of tab interference. You may need to use the code with modified settings for other weights of paper.

The cut layer is easy as you just need to cut through. The score layer needs to be done with enough power to allow easy folding on the line but not too much which will make the fold lines weaker and likely to fail during or after assembly. I suggest you try cutting and assembling the practice models to get your laser settings adjusted to suit your system before cutting complete sets.

SVG files for face and edge models for the platonic set, archimedean set and rhombic set. The platonic set in 50mm edge length and 50mm circumradius versions. There are a couple of extra files for the rhombic dodecahedron (face and edge) as this pairs nicely with the Bilinski one in the rhombic set. There are also some practice files - octahedron face and edge, and rhombic parallelpiped edge. 12 of the 50mm edge golden rhombic faces should be used as practice for the rhombic parallelepiped face models.

Parts keys in pdf format are included showing the number of faces and edges needed for the models in each of the three sets.
